Field Inspector I – Mechanical

CSI Engineering is a company that provides top-tier MEP, Testing & Commissioning and engineering services worldwide. They are seeking a Field Inspector I – Mechanical to perform site inspections and verify mechanical installations in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Conduct daily inspections of HVAC, hydronic, and mechanical piping systems, including ductwork, pumps, chillers, boilers, AHUs/FCUs, and exhaust systems
Verify installation work against IFC drawings, approved submittals, and method statements under supervision of a senior inspector or QC Engineer
Confirm compliance with IMC, IBC, ASME B31.1/B31.3, SMACNA, ASHRAE, and relevant local codes
Assist in preparing inspection checklists, punch lists, and daily reports; maintain accurate photographic documentation
Support witnessing of mechanical tests, such as pressure testing, flushing, or equipment start-up, and record results
Identify and report non-conformances for review; assist in follow-up and closure of NCRs/CARs
Coordinate with Construction, QA/QC, Safety, and Project Management teams to resolve site issues promptly
Participate in toolbox talks and ensure safe work practices during inspections

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical diploma
0–3 years of field inspection or construction experience in mechanical building systems
Familiarity with basic mechanical codes, drawings, and terminology
Proficiency in MS Office
Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and willingness to learn within a multi-disciplinary project team
Physically fit to work on active construction sites and perform extended site walks

Preferred

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification
Exposure to NFPA and ASHRAE standards or prior internship in QA/QC mechanical works
Understanding of Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) or basic commissioning concepts
