Senior Project Accountant
IPS-Integrated Project Services is a global leader in developing innovative solutions for technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. They are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to manage project accounting functions, including invoicing, project setup, and budget revisions, while collaborating with Project Managers and financial operations teams.

Responsibilities
Prepare and submit monthly invoices in an accurate and timely fashion with all required backup documentation
Performs all accounting functions relating to assigned projects (e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costs, etc.)
Records subcontractor commitments provided by the Contract Administrator and approved by the Project Manager/Design Manager, comparing amounts to appropriate line items on the schedule of values
Will work with Project Managers to obtain proper approval before submitting invoices to clients
Set up new projects, perform budget revisions, and enter cost transfers into the accounting system as required
Ensure proper billing rates for employees/contractors are assigned for each project
Calculate and post construction management fees and other direct cost entries
Issue cost reports to Project Managers every week or as requested
Reconciles schedule of values on application to subcontractor commitment
Compiles submitted payment requests from subcontractors and suppliers, compares them to Job Cost reports, and includes applicable amounts for general conditions and fees to produce a payment request to be submitted to the owner
Reconciles current request for owner payment to previous submissions
Obtains releases of liens from all suppliers and subcontractors for the previous month’s payment before issuing checks for further payment
Maintains log-on progress payments and release of liens
Maintains ongoing record of retainage being held on subcontracts/vendors
Reviews contracts for release of retainage and notifies the Project Manager of any upcoming releases
Monitors special payment arrangements to ensure that time-sensitive payments are made on time
Enters owner change orders, changes to estimates, subcontracts, subcontractor change orders, and purchase orders
Performs Job close-out duties, including reconciling commitments, archiving files, and closing the job in the system
Provides A/R Collection information to management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with 5+ years of experience in construction project accounting
Ability to effectively prioritize time and meet deadlines
Highly reliable with strong organizational skills to manage a large amount of documents and information
A sense of urgency with an ability to multitask and ability to meet multiple deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Proficiency in working with and reading financial spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), Accounting software (Timberline Software), and Microsoft software
Preferred
Graduate degree in Finance or Business Management
Experience in the construction industry
