Data Center Load Management & Optimization Lead
Intersect is a flexible workplace founded in 2016, currently seeking a Data Center Load Management & Optimization Lead. This role involves leading the integration and optimization of Data Center private use networks in ERCOT, managing relationships, ensuring compliance, and developing commercial strategies for load management.

Responsibilities
Partner with and own the QSE/FRP 3rd party relationship to ensure PUNs are set up properly to meet the needs of the renewable projects and customer
Lead the registration and management of large loads in ERCOT
Coordinate with load customer to define energy manager scope
Register load with relevant demand response programs
Support the retail supply agreement contract negotiations and ensure compliance with the agreements
Ensure operational and regulatory compliance with all load integration processes
Partner with internal teams to align load setup with project timelines and grid interconnection strategies
Provide subject-matter expertise on data center energy management, including forecasting, demand optimization, and risk management
Develop optimization strategies to reduce load customer’s risk (4CP charges, etc)
Stay current on state and federal energy regulations impacting tariffs, load management, and service agreements
Understand and monitor ERCOT protocols related to large loads and PUN structures
Establish clear understanding of all metering, settlement, and dispatch mechanics of large loads and PUN structures
Advise internal teams and clients on compliance requirements across ERCOT, SPP, and other markets
Build strong relationships with utilities, LSEs, regulators, and market operators to unlock new opportunities
Collaborate with Development, Project Finance, and Strategy teams to ensure energy management solutions align with Intersect’s broader portfolio and business goals
Act as the trusted point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on data center management strategy
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in economics, energy management, engineering, finance, or a related field (MBA or master's preferred)
6+ years experience in setting up large loads in ERCOT and/or SPP
Experience managing and optimizing large loads in ERCOT
Experience optimizing renewable and gas generation in ERCOT
Experience working on a trading desk and managing revenue
Extensive commercial experience spanning both load and generation projects
Deep knowledge of tariff structures, retail markets, and regulatory frameworks across multiple RTO/ISO regions
Strong grasp of energy markets, load forecasting, and data center energy optimization
Project management skills with the ability to meet milestones and coordinate across teams
Exceptional analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
Familiarity with energy management and regulatory reporting tools
A collaborative mindset, with the ability to bridge technical, regulatory, and commercial perspectives
