Responsibilities
Oversee the Durham office and business growth
Provide strategic direction, mentor local tax and audit teams, and be a visible leader for the office
Focus on tax compliance and planning for a diverse tax practice client base
Manage deadlines, optimize workflow, and ensure priorities remain aligned with client needs and firm standards
Offer insight-driven tax strategies and cultivate strong, enduring client relationships
Oversee complex technical reviews and guide teams through IRS and state inquiries and notices
Shape the culture and performance of the Durham office by supervising staff and supporting recruiting efforts
Qualification
Required
Active CPA license to meet regulatory requirements and adhere to quality standards
A minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, or a similar environment
Leadership experience (at least 3 years) to lead, mentor and develop staff
Client Accounting Services (CAS) experience to provide technical and strategic support to clients and internal teams, particularly in areas related to bookkeeping, financial statement preparation and complex CAS engagements
Preferred
Audit experience, especially related to NFP, is a plus, but not required, for candidates with exceptional tax expertise
Leveraging your local market knowledge and established community connections will advance your candidacy
