Assistant Director, Supervisory Security Specialist

USAJOBS is seeking an Assistant Director, Supervisory Security Specialist to manage the Justice Command Center, Emergency Relocation Facility, and the Continuity Assurance Section within the Security and Emergency Planning Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing guidelines, monitoring performance, and developing emergency planning policies.

Responsibilities

Establish guidelines and performance expectations for the areas and personnel supervised
Observes staff performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques; provides informal feedback and evaluates employee performance
Provides advice and counsel to employees related to work and administrative matters
Develops, issues, and monitors Department-wide policy regarding emergency planning activities
Prepares and maintains emergency planning documents which require senior level approval
Provides management support and communication, both secure and non-secure for senior department officials
Provides for the activation of plans for the relocating and functioning of key personnel at the Department's primary and alternate relocation sites

Required

You must be a United States Citizen or National
You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening
You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate
You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement
You must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security level
You must complete a one year supervisory probationary period
To qualify for the position of Assistant Director, Supervisory Security Specialist, at GS-0080-15, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates your ability supervising security personnel, including training, scheduling, performance management, creates and implements security policies, procedures, and protocols AND conducts emergency management planning
You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 11/24/2025
Your resume must support your responses to the application questionnaire and the qualification requirements. Failure to do so may result in an ineligible rating
For the GS-15 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted
