Lab & Research Technician II
The University of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated research technician to join Dr. Jarrod Marto's lab. The role involves conducting experiments related to proteomics and chemical proteomics, while collaborating with senior personnel and assisting in the development of research projects.

Responsibilities
Work closely with senior lab personnel to design and implement experiments to quantify cellular proteins or PTMs
Identify on- and off-target binding of small molecule probes at the level of individual proteins, related gene families, and proteome-wide
Execute SOPs across multiple projects with greater independence as skills are built
Present data during lab meetings and accurately document results
Work with PI to discuss experiments and assist undergraduate students and volunteers in the lab
Collaborate with Professional Research Staff and Research Faculty to facilitate further experimental results
Provide operational and administrative support under moderate supervision
Plan and conduct experiments and analyze data
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience, education, certification in lieu of degree
2+ years of lab experience which may include student experience
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
Hands-on experience in biomedical research techniques, and basic computer skills
Demonstrated experience in mass spectrometry or other high-throughput molecular profiling techniques as well as python or other scripting languages is a plus but not required
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Attention to detail
Methodical record keeping
Desire to contribute to research projects both independently and within a team
