Responsibilities
Investigates design factors such as function, materials, performance, material interchangeability, costs (non-recurring and recurring), operational efficiency, and contractual requirements. Will require close collaboration with USAF partnership and customer teams as well as multiple Parker divisions
Applies scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the outcome and consequence of process improvements in the areas of testing, assembly/disassembly procedures, component inspection, and component substitution. Interprets and validates test results for accuracy, precision, and areas of improvement. Recommends product qualification procedures and parameters to achieve customer and product reliability and safety standards (e.g. failure analysis). May utilize and interpret predictive models to correlate engineering initiatives with production forecast and cost targets
Provides technical information for review with Parker divisional teams across the country using established engineering practices, standards, and documentations methods (e.g. structured design process; customer design reviews). Writes supporting documentation for procedures and technical reports; may write technical responses or proposals for customer
Contributes to the completion milestones associated withs specific projects (e.g. create function diagrams and system layouts; review detailed drawings and schematics; define data structure, interfaces and programming logic; analyze material requirements; research customer data item requirements)
Reviews product specifications to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function, and conformity to aerospace and military standards and procedures. Identifies design errors, omissions and other deficiencies and recommends revisions, engineering change orders and improvement to engineering management or the project team
Maintains and further develops professional and technical knowledge through on-the-job training, educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and/or participating in professional associations
Shares specialized knowledge with others in the organization while protecting intellectual property rights when representing the company on specific projects or engineering tasks. May lead to mentoring opportunities within the company
Will closely monitor test/repair production failures requiring detalied root cause & analysis, corrective action development, and planned execution to deadlines and report outs. Lean concepts and tools are highly encouraged to facilitate improvements in first pass yield and associated processes. These will require collaborating cross functionally within the Hill Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to support delivery of repairs at Hill AFB and with Parker divisions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (BS) (or Profession Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 4-6 years of related experience. Must be a self-starter and proactively utilize team objectives, voice of the customer, and divisional resources to drive projects of varying complexity through completion per negotiated timelines
Has thorough knowledge of product area and domain and develops a breadth of knowledge of military and aerospace industry practices, techniques, regulations and policies
Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer aided design or modeling systems, Catia preferred)
Ability to use standard MS software packages. Will require learning specialized Parker engineering databases and systems
Highly proficient with Lean based problem-solving tools, problem solving of hydraulic/fluid power systems, and project management tracking of milestones
Ability to manage multiple inputs from various external customers/partners as well as internal divisional shareholders regarding projects and team goals. Actively applies judgement in meeting regulatory and company procedural requirements. Works collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsiveness and professionalism to customers, partners, and internal divisional team members is of the upmost importance
Preferred
Aerospace engineering experience; proficiency in hydraulic and/or flight control hardware
Aerospace repair station experience
Experience working as a DOD engineer or as a contractor
Experience problem solving and supporting of test stand functionality
Aerospace Quality experience preferred (AS9100)
Project management experience preferred
