Mentorship and Afterschool Program Manager, Richmond Hill HS
South Asian Youth Action (SAYA) is a youth development nonprofit focused on educational equity for underserved New York City youth. The Mentorship and Afterschool Program Manager will oversee afterschool clubs and mentorship initiatives at Richmond Hill High School, collaborating with staff and community partners to enhance student engagement and support.

Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of afterschool and lunchtime clubs
Coordinate all club-related activities, trips and special events
Collaborate with colleagues to promote SAYA clubs through outreach efforts (email, social media, classroom, and cafeteria visits) and supervise club advisors in sustaining consistent recruitment and retention
Review curricula, unit and lesson plans created by club advisors to ensure activities integrate culturally-responsive, socially conscious, and social-emotional learning (SEL) skills
Liaise with in-school staff, vendors, and external stakeholders to coordinate space, food, supplies, and visitors for club programming
Collaborate with staff, student leaders, and alumni mentors to ensure timely purchase orders and proper distribution of all materials and resources
Ensure proper tracking, organization, and record-keeping of attendance sheets, applications, event and trip forms, and other documentation
Work with the Community School Director to ensure proper club budget monitoring
Support training and growth of club advisors and student leaders
Work with Community School Director, Wellness Center staff, attendance Success Mentor team, and RHHS staff to plan and facilitate youth, parent, and community-based activities, workshops, and special events
Partner with School’s Academy Directors to plan career-related experiences and events
Oversee various mentoring initiatives, ensuring effective implementation, participant engagement, and progress tracking
Collaborate with school staff and SAYA’s postsecondary team to provide students with guidance, resources, and opportunities that support their college and career readiness
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Community School Director on continuously improving, deepening and expanding SAYA’s role as a community school partner at Richmond Hill High School
Build partnerships with school administrators and other key staff
Support Community School Director in training staff and students with integrating SEL, socially conscious, and culturally relevant material within in-school and afterschool programming
Participate in school-wide Community School Initiatives, including vision screenings and glasses distribution, immigration legal support clinics, and other initiatives as assigned
Implement SEL assessment tools in afterschool and other enrichment activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor degree in relevant fields (Education, Social Work, Youth Development)
At least 4 years of experience managing after-school programs in the nonprofit sector and facilitating workshops with high school youth in public school settings, preferably in collaboration with NYC public schools
Committed to frameworks of social justice, social-emotional learning (SEL), positive youth development, and culturally responsive sustaining education (CRSE), with experience coordinating programs grounded in critical pedagogy
Outstanding outreach, verbal, written communication and public speaking skills
Highly flexible, detail-oriented, and open to feedback, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt creatively to changing program needs in a fast-paced environment
Excellent proficiency in Canva and Google Suite, including Google Spreadsheet, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drive, Google Forms, MS-Excel
Understanding of issues facing immigrant youth, youth of color, working class, and undocumented youth in the US
Willingness to support larger SAYA and SAYA RHHS team with various tasks as is needed, must be open to and contribute to supportive team culture across programs
Preferred
Bilingual highly preferred (Spanish, Punjabi, Arabic)
