Clinical Lab Scientist (Technician)
The Central Virginia VA Health Care System is seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist (Technician) to join their team. The role involves facilitating team processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and coordinating training in laboratory methods and techniques.

Responsibilities
Facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members or employees to ensure that tasks are completed and team priorities, goals, needs and achievements are coordinated with management. Acts as a liaison between the team members and the supervisor
Prepares reports, maintains records, administrative information. Prepares and presents work-related information to supervisor
Is responsible for coordination of training in the methods and techniques of the laboratory
Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of assorted regulatory agencies such as CAP, TJC, and OSHA. Coordinates Quality Control activities with the Supervisor
Creates, applies, and monitors reengineering and continuous performance improvement initiatives, both within the program and/or the organization
Plans and schedules on-going work. Adjusts staffing levels or work procedures for achieving work goals, objectives, and management strategies
Serves as Timekeeper for the time and leave group
Acts as liaison to other departments of the medical center for the department

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science or in a related science
Completion of a medical technology clinical practice program
Candidates must currently possess the appropriate certification as a MT, MLS, or CLS given by the ASCP-BOC, ASCP-BOR, or AMT
For positions up to the full performance level, candidates must currently possess the categorical or specialist technologist level certification from the certification agencies listed above
Failure to become certified within one year from date of appointment will result in removal from the GS-0644 MT series
