Responsibilities

You will install, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems
You will disassemble components/systems and determine the required repairs on aircrafts
You will correct problems by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts, e.g., bad actuators, corroded fuel lines, etc
You will inspect engine for fuel, oil, and hot air leaks during engine run
You will conduct pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and check pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repair on aircraft

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
A comprehensive understanding of aircraft and helicopters, coupled with the ability to apply mathematical formulas related to weight and balance
Ability to assist Squadron Weight & Balance Officers in resolving any weight and balance concerns that may impact mission requirements
Strong communication skills
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions
