Start in 2026 SpringZoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. As an Automation or DevOps Tooling Intern, you will work on various teams to develop full-stack applications, automate release workflows, and integrate tools for firmware prototyping and testing. This internship offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and mentorship from industry experts.

Responsibilities
Develop full-stack applications to support and enhance QA Engineering processes
Build scalable and efficient systems that integrate with various internal tools
Contribute to automation solutions to improve efficiency and streamline processes
Automate the existing release workflow by developing new tooling and enhancing existing ones
Develop dashboards to visualize the status of a release or trends of metrics across releases
Automate the approval process, from ingest of test results to sign off and deployment feature flag management tools
Propose tool and/or feature ideas to improve and streamline processes
Write software to help integrate internal and external tools for automated firmware prototyping, development, testing and integration
Develop software for an automated validation framework, supporting continuous integration (CI) and nightly tests
Propose tool and/or feature ideas to improve processes, integrate tester software systems with server infrastructure, and design and implement automated test framework optimizations
Qualification
Required
Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program
Must be returning to school to continue your education upon completing this internship
Good academic standing
Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026
At least one previous industry internship, co-op, or project completed in a relevant area
Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California or San Diego for the duration of the internship
Interns at Zoox may not use any proprietary information they are working on as part of their thesis, any published work with their university, or to be distributed to anyone outside of Zoox
Experience with software development languages (Python and C++ preferred)
Experience with JavaScript/Typescript for front end development
Experience building cross-platform software with source control (Git)
Understanding of hardware testing and verification methods
Preferred
CI and build systems (e.g. Bamboo, Buildkite, etc.)
Python libraries (e.g. pybind, pytest, pandas, python-can, plotly, matplotlib, etc.)
HIL and/or SIL Test Frameworks
Communication protocols (e.g. CAN, LIN, pub/sub)
Multiprocessing and multithreading
Basic knowledge of C++, Java and/or Kotlin
ClickHouse, OpenSearch, Grafana, Databricks, etc.Databases
