Responsibilities

Prepares engineering design plans, layout, schematics, and technical drawings for the construction of new and/or existing high voltage substation facilities and related components
Estimates costs for capital budgets on the construction of substation projects
Prepares economic analysis on engineering alternatives to facilities and equipment
Prepares bid specifications for the construction, expansion and modification of substation facilities and equipment
Performs research, field work, construction specifications, drawing preparation and material scheduling for the construction of the substation project
Provides substation engineering technical support during and after the project construction
Assists with the planning and budget of construction of future substation facilities
Responsible for the procurement of high voltage equipment and overseeing the delivery process of it
Collaborate with project managers, field personnel and other company stakeholders involved in the design and construction of new and expansion substation projects
Reviews and receives invoices for materials and engineering services
Ensures NERC and WECC compliance work is completed and documented appropriately
Works with vendors to address material and equipment defects and failures
Creates and documents material standards and addresses general construction material issues
Contributes to capital project scope documentation (e.g.: Scope Zero Document)
Valid driver’s license and be in compliance with the Company’s Driving Program policy
Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations
Perform other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of the duties defined

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
0-5 years or more experience required
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards as they pertain to substation and transmission facilities; fundamentals of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, engineering design and techniques, construction methods and specifications, project estimating and scheduling, and applicable standards
Ability to coordinate, organize, and prioritize tasks; perform complex calculations and operate personal computer with engineering software and AutoCad applications
Ability to design electrical systems, comprehend project cost estimates, perform complex substation reports (e.g.: grounding grid reports, equipment inspection reports), meet project deadlines, and develop design and construction documents
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public
Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters
Valid driver's license and be in compliance with the Company's Driving Program policy
Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations

College level course work in electrical power systems preferred
