Emergency Actions Specialist

Responsibilities

Oversees incident responses
Develops and coordinates emergency preparedness activities
Conducts facility assessments to evaluate risks and associated levels of protection
Participates in meetings and conferences to share ideas, present emergency plans, and brief senior leadership on incidents
Establishes plans related to continuity of operations, continuity of Government, occupant emergency planning, and pandemic planning

Required

You must be a United States Citizen or National
You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening
You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period
Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file
Additional selections may be made from this announcement, at any time, if openings occur in other offices serviced by Justice Management Division, HR Operations

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented information (SCI) security clearance
You must be able to pass a polygraph test
You must be able to perform shift work, to include day and night shifts
For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting 2 of the 4 following statements: 1) Receives, authenticates, interprets, and forwards time sensitive emergency action messages; 2) Utilizes analytical and research techniques to resolve issues; 3) Utilizes Microsoft Office applications to develop reports, compile data and develop brief material; 4) Utilizes communication security measures to ensure any physical or digital document is safeguarded
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting 2 of the 4 following statements: 1) Receives, authenticates, interprets, and forwards time sensitive emergency action messages; 2) Prepares and maintains a chronological log of all events and incidents that occur during an operational shift; 3) Participates in mock emergency exercises testing operational plans, procedures and policies; 4) Alerts applicable officials and agencies in the event of emergency warnings to limit the impact of natural or manmade incidents or disasters
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages
