Stellantis is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to fulfill the role of Base Calibration Technical Team Leader. This role involves leading a team of engineers in developing optimal engine calibrations and overseeing performance reviews, resource planning, and collaboration with other teams to ensure successful engine testing and calibration.

Responsibilities

Leading a group of engineers, conducting performance reviews, mentoring new engineers to ensure propulsion systems function

Planning resources, timelines and leading base calibration development work for a group of 5-10 engineers

Overseeing the team that generates optimal base engine calibrations meeting all the program objectives in terms of performance, control stability, lowest fuel consumption whilst minimizing the engine out and tailpipe emissions levels

Setting up and controlling all engine sensors and actuators for all engine operating conditions under both steady state and transient engine operation

Confirming the team successfully completes the required engine hardware and systems testing and supporting all other teams with their standardized and specialized engine test requests

Overseeing the team’s coordination of day-to-day activities of an engine and powertrain dynamometer and collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers

Developing test plans and timelines, and generating reports to communicate the status of the program to the larger development and management teams

Conducting evaluations with new engine hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry over applications

Providing data analysis oversight to solve complex system problems as they relate to engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration development

Required

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics

Minimum of 8 years combined work experience in the area of powertrain development and/or calibration

Minimum of 3 years of prior experience leading a team

Knowledge of electrified powertrain fundamentals

Advanced understanding of gasoline engine efficiency, performance, and emissions

Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data

Experience root causing first install conformance (napkin schematics, wiring, CAN, facilities, calibration)

Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently

Knowledge of standard and regulatory test procedures

Preferred

Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Minimum of 5 years of prior experience leading a team

Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFS) proactive engineering methods

Experience using test cell automation to conduct unattended testing

Experience in Powertrain Control solution development (powertrain control algorithms, On-board Diagnostics/ OBD, embedded software)

Strong knowledge of the propulsion system (hardware, calibration, controls)

System development experience in airflow, combustion, thermodynamics, or after treatment areas

Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques

Proficient in Matlab / Simulink and propulsion system control theory
