Aerospace Tig Welder 3rd Shift

The Aerospace Tig Welder will be responsible for welding metal components according to specifications using TIG welding equipment, ensuring quality and safety in the production process.

Responsibilities

Welds together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using Tig welding equipment
Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified. Starts power supply to produce electric current
Manually guides torch along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal. Cleans weld joint or workpiece. Prepares rework parts for welding
Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture
May tack assemblies together
Will use a computer daily (checking email, viewing/downloading shop drawings and instructions)

Required

High School diploma or GED
Successful completion of a TIG Welding Training Course (formal program)
Or previous experience as a TIG welder with 6 months experience
Successful completion of the Unison-Dayton TIG Welding Assessment
