DRILL RIG OPERATOR HELPER
USAJOBS is seeking a Drill Rig Operator Helper to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The role involves assisting in the operation of drill rigs, setting up equipment, and ensuring safety and efficiency in drilling operations.

Responsibilities
Set up portable pumps and lays hose lines
Help with construction of temporary small bridges and drilling platforms
Assists in operation of drill rig by connecting and disconnecting drill pipe and bits as boring is advanced, handling 'dogging' devices and wrenches as necessary
Assists in mixing drilling mud as required
Drives assigned vehicles to transport supplies and equipment
Help with removal of soil and rock samples
Qualification
Required
Ability to perform the most difficult and complex operations, performing drill rigs and attendant tools in order to set up drilling equipment, including performing preventative maintenance on various equipment
Ability to operate hand and power tools, including a chain saw
Considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence
Work involves standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, pushing, reaching, pulling, and lifting heavy objects regularly and often, sometimes with rapid repetitiveness throughout the workday
Objects may sometimes weigh in excess of 94 pounds
Required to participate in the District's HTRW Program and will be included in the Annual Medical Surveillance Program
Works outside in all kinds of weather, exposed to poison growth, reptiles and insects and under noisy conditions
Is exposed to cuts and bruises, strains and danger of falling while working from barges
Required to wear personal protection equipment to include hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and occasionally a respirator and other personal protection equipment
Must be able to perform job requirements in the equipment
Required to participate in the annual respirator usage fit-test
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
Temporary duty travel required approximately 95% of the time
Drug testing may be required
Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
One year trial/probationary period may be required
