Segment Strategy Associate (Open to hiring Segment Strategy Manager level)

Responsibilities
Work with Product team and other cross-functional teams to ideate and develop management and execution of assigned market segment strategy
Support in the alignment of segment strategy with corporate goals to meet membership, revenue and margin goals and improve the customer experience, measured by Wellmark’s proprietary Member Loyalty Index (MLI)
Engage and assist in the development, recommendation, management, and implementation of distribution, pricing, promotion, and messaging strategies for assigned market segments, including planning and reporting activities
In partnership with the Segment team and others, build and develop business cases in the formulation of marketing/sales projects
Collaborate with the market implementation project team and with leadership guidance, may provide direction on the market, oversee all aspects of identifying, obtaining approval and implementing strategic projects involving new potential business partnerships, new product offerings or the disengagement of existing business segments
In partnership with the Segment team and others develop an annual segment go-to market plan that details monthly execution points driven by key performance indicators and return on investment
Monitor the performance of the plan and suggest revisions as necessary
Provide dashboard reports of segment performance and initiative progress on a monthly basis
Actively participate in the annual enrollment forecasting process
Assist with monitoring performance and return on investment for assigned segment(s) and for providing insights for any necessary changes in direction
Communicate performance results to the Director and applicable stakeholders on a regular basis
Work closely with the Project Managers, Product Team, Market Research, Marketing and Communications as well as Sales Leadership to ensure service changes are implemented efficiently and are accurately portrayed in materials explaining products to customers, distribution channels, and others
Keep up to date with industry issues, competitor products, and apply knowledge of the health and well-being industry and Wellmark’s marketplace to develop recommendations

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Insurance, Business Management, Pharmacy, or other health-related program, plus one year of applicable business experience (which may include internship), OR 4+ years of direct and applicable business experience
Specific understanding of strategic planning, profitability, financial metrics, market and/or external influences
Strong ability to interact professionally with senior leadership and key executives
Ability to support in the building and implementing of strategic initiatives that achieve bottom-line results
Demonstrated understanding of customer needs and ability to successfully develop and deliver customer-focused solutions
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Natural curiosity, business intuition, and financial acumen
Willingness to approach problems from different perspectives in order to produce creative, innovative solutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate business implications and recommendations to varying audiences, including senior leadership. Strong presentation skills
Ability to distill large amounts of information into relevant, actionable insights
Ability to evaluate workflows and support the successful alignment with product strategy and implementation
Identify opportunities and partner in the implementation of solutions and evaluation of impact
Ability to develop strong relationships through collaboration and teamwork
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications
Ability to prioritize initiatives, support in the alignment of appropriate resources, and partner with others in order to achieve success
Self-starter with the ability to produce quality results
Flexible and adaptable to change
Travel required up to 5%
Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience
Minimum of 4 years of experience developing insights and strategy, and/or analyzing and translating data into actionable solutions including a strong understanding of strategic planning, profitability, financial metrics, market and/or external influences
Demonstrates an exceptional acumen for understanding and translating complex data, concepts, and financial metrics into insights for varied audiences
Strong ability to evaluate workflows and support successful alignments with product strategy and implementation. Strong abilities in developing deep understanding of segments, creating segment insights and working closely with partners in insights and competitive intelligence
Keen abilities and desire in leading through influence while fostering relationships with partners at all levels in the organization - listener, teacher, and connector. Ability to lead strategic market reviews and synthesize competitive intelligence and analysis
Strong abilities to support in the building and implementing of strategic initiatives that achieve bottom-line results. Ability to manage complex projects that require partnerships at all levels of the organization
Demonstrates critical thinking and curiosity to creatively solve complex problems
Strong written/verbal communication skills, including presentation development and delivery. Able to convey complex business implications with influence and provide recommendations to varying audiences, including senior leadership
