Vehicle Mechanical Engineer (M.S./Ph.D.)
Exponent is a premium engineering and scientific consulting firm dedicated to solving unique challenges for clients. They are seeking a Vehicle Mechanical Engineer to support technical analyses of transportation accidents and evaluations of vehicle safety systems, including Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). The role involves fieldwork, technical reporting, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
Consulting
Responsibilities
Technical analysis of transportation accidents involving heavy trucks and passenger vehicles
Fieldwork including inspections of accident site and vehicles
Field and laboratory evaluations including full-scale vehicle and component testing
Preparing written technical reports and presenting findings to diverse audiences
Qualification
Required
M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
P.E. license or the willingness to obtain a P.E. license
Advanced knowledge of dynamics and mechanical design
Experience in vehicle dynamics and/or crashworthiness preferred
Interest in automotive systems such as vehicle communication networks, chassis systems, or Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS)
Attention to detail and dedication to quality and accuracy
Experience with CAD software, and analytical and simulation tools desired
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Clear written communication and technical writing skills
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present technical information
Preferred
Experience in vehicle dynamics and/or crashworthiness
Experience with CAD software, and analytical and simulation tools
