Responsibilities

Conduct field mapping to collect geologic data related to bedrock geology, geologic structures, stratigraphy, and mineral resources related to EarthMRI grants or other funding sources
Arrange for access to private property to view outcrops to ensure adequate data collection
Coordinate data analysis of collected geologic samples including, but not limited to, petrography and geochemical analyses
Digitally create geologic maps based on collected data and analysis and implement maps into geodatabase schema
Use GIS software to manage projects, model data, and produce publications
Present findings to internal and external stakeholders

Required

Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Geologist in the State of Missouri
Bachelor's degree in geology, or closely related field and have completed, at a minimum, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credit in geology including coursework required by the Missouri Board of Geologist Registration
Working knowledge of geologic principles and their applications
Familiarity with the concepts and tools applied to map production
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts in written form for various audiences
Balancing demands of time and energy regarding assigned projects
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to work alone in remote areas
Ability to walk long distances in hilly and rugged terrain
Ability to climb steep slopes
Ability to carry geologic specimens out of the field
Ability to use shovel, hand auger, and hammer
