EHS Specialist

Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with corporate safety policies and OSHA/environmental regulations through daily safety audits and inspections on the plant floor
Track, maintain, and report key safety KPIs, including lost time accidents, near misses, safety talks, and incident trends
Develop and implement corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety performance and KPI results
Lead day-to-day safety activities, with strong floor presence, focusing on LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, and other core safety programs
Review, update, and develop safety documentation, policies, and procedures to bring the facility into full regulatory compliance
Conduct safety audits, job hazard analyses (JHA), risk assessments, and incident investigations, including root cause analysis
Coordinate and deliver safety training, including new hire orientations, forklift certification, and required EHS programs
Serve as the site point of contact for safety-related matters and collaborate with leadership, HR, Maintenance, and other departments
Oversee contractor and subcontractor safety compliance, including fire protection, security alarms, and environmental systems
Manage PPE standards, implement engineering controls where feasible, and verify compliance with safety requirements
Organize and support the plant Safety Committee, implement audit findings, and track action plan progress
Support emergency preparedness initiatives, including fire prevention, emergency response plans, and the development of a spill response team
Qualification
Required
Associate Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety sciences or other related fields, or a minimum of 3 years experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety position; Technical writing a plus
Over three years of experience in the manufacturing environment; food manufacturing is a plus
Ability to multitask and work independently
Team player with good communication skills
Experience in RCAs or internal investigations
Computer skills in Microsoft and Google Suite
Knowledge of OSHA standards
Preferred
OSHA 10hr Certification preferred
