EHS Manager
American Woodmark is one of the nation's largest cabinet manufacturers, committed to customer satisfaction and excellence. The EHS Manager will ensure compliance with safety regulations, develop safety practices, and lead safety initiatives to create a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
Ensure federal, state, and local compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other corporate regulatory standards
Develop and implement safety practices to create a safe work environment while complying with local, state, and federal regulations
Develop metrics to support and drive safety performance
Promote, develop, and assist in safety awareness and safety training
Conduct ongoing safety inspections and ergonomic assessments
Collaborate and align with corporate EH&S on behavior-based safety programs and company-wide goals and initiatives
Oversee and guide the plant’s Safety Committee with focus on raising safety awareness and creating an environment free of incidents
Manage Workers' Compensation claims while minimizing costs and prevent recurrence
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions
Partner with engineering to perform new equipment assessments and developments towards a safer workplace
Maintain safety documentation and manage MSDS programs
Support other locations when EH&S positions are vacant
Supervise and mentor EH&S team members
Perform other tasks as directed by the Director of Manufacturing
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 to 7 years EH&S experience; manufacturing preferred
Experience with implementation and administration of a Behavior Based Safety Programs
Experience in managing workers compensation claims, claims analysis, and cost reduction
First-Aid, and CPR certification required, EMT a plus
Must have experience in developing and administering Safety & Health programs and Industrial Hygiene sampling techniques
Track record of successful project management
Must have experience in working in a team environment leading teams to meet/exceed goals
Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment
Strong planning/Organization & Time Management skills a must
Advanced problem-solving skills
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient with influencing abilities
Ability to work independently
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business and technical journals and financial reports
Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and public
Bachelor's Degree required
Preferred
Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field
