Conduct client interviews
Identify legal needs and social support services
Analyze legal issues pertaining to the barriers to housing stability
Assist attorneys on cases
Conduct legal research
Draft memos and legal briefs
Provide day-of advocacy in the DPSS offices
Participate in client phone calls to gather information and documentation
Draft pleadings and discovery
Research and draft motions
Observe court hearings
Prepare court forms and conduct discovery
Research and write legal briefs and motions
Assist with legal clinics
Conduct or assist with client interviews
Evaluate and analyze potential legal claims
Conduct legal research
Draft litigation memos or legal briefs
Assist with preparing lawsuits for filing
Attend a legal clinic
Conduct client intakes
Conduct medical records reviews
Qualification
Required
Must be in your first or second year of law school
Resume must reflect the law school you are currently enrolled in
Submit a cover letter discussing interest in interning with Public Counsel and HPLP
Submit a writing sample in PDF form
