Aircraft Maintenance Internship - SkillBridge

Western Aircraft is an approved SkillBridge Internship provider under the Department of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The Aircraft Maintenance Internship offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience while assisting with the maintenance and inspection of general aviation aircraft.

Information Technology

Responsibilities

Performs and assists with routine maintenance and inspections on general aviation aircraft
Ensures proper care of customer property through all phases of work
Accurately completes required paperwork and work order details in Corridor
Continually keeps clean and organized work area
Understands and follows safety procedures and utilizes support equipment in a safe manner to accomplish work
Performs other duties as directed

Aircraft maintenance experienceAdvanced troubleshootingBroad knowledge of aircraft systemsAirframe & Powerplant certificationBasic sheet metal skillsBasic electrical capabilitiesEffective communication skillsTeamworkPositive attitude

Required

Minimum two (2) years' experience in general / military aircraft maintenance required
Advanced troubleshooting abilities
Broad knowledge of aircraft systems
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Effective oral and written communication skills
Positive attitude, professional appearance, and demeanor
Basic sheet metal skills and/or basic electrical capabilities considered a plus
Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
Selected candidates must obtain command approval for participation and provide approval documentation NLT 10 business days prior to start date
Work is performed in an aircraft hangar environment with moderate noise level
Must have the ability for climbing and bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working at heights
Reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and 25 pounds overhead

Preferred

Airframe & Powerplant certifications highly preferred
Candidates actively working to obtain Airframe & Powerplant certifications within 6 months of start date preferred
