Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain database models, ensuring scalability and efficiency
Optimize database performance through advanced SQL query tuning, indexing strategies, and storage optimization techniques
Write custom scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and ETL components to streamline data processes
Work closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to define and refine database structures, ensuring alignment with business requirements
Develop data mappings for projects involving legacy system modernization, ensuring seamless migration and integration
Administer and maintain databases on AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), ensuring security and compliance
Implement and support virtual private cloud (VPC) configurations and secure networking for database access across applications environments
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, access control, and security vulnerabilities
Support developers in mapping data for application development, ensuring data integrity and efficiency
Provide database-related technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the help desk and project teams
Maintain detailed technical documentation for database schemas, stored procedures, and business logic
Participate in meetings with stakeholders, offering database solutions and best practices
Ensure database activities comply with data governance, NIST, and FISMA standards

Required

5-6 years of progressive experience in system design and database development
Expertise in Oracle, AWS RDS, and SQL-based databases
Proficiency in ETL processes, data modeling, and database architecture
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud-based database solutions and VPC integration
Strong SQL scripting, performance tuning, and query optimization skills
Ability to analyze and improve database performance, resolving inefficiencies and scalability challenges
Experience working on legacy system modernization projects, designing and implementing data migration strategies
Strong understanding of change control processes and testing methodologies for database modifications
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and translate business requirements into database solutions
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field from an accredited university or college
Experience Requirement: 10+ years of IT experience with a Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of IT experience with a Master's degree
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance

Preferred

Preferred certifications: AWS Database Specialty, Oracle OCP, or SQL Server (MCSA/MCSE) equivalents
