Responsibilities

Plan and execute field assignments for southern and central California-based work
Conduct general and species-specific biological surveys and construction compliance monitoring pursuant to the relevant environmental commitments, laws, regulations, codes and/or industry standards
Document field findings in monitoring logs, reports, memos and email communications, as appropriate
Communicate with client field contacts and ICF project managers and senior biologists
The on-call biologist must be able to travel to remote field sites in other counties, including but not limited to Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernadino, Tulare, Inyo, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties

Required

A BA/BS in Biology, Ecology, or related discipline
2+ years of environmental/consulting and biological field experience
Must have prior experience conducting construction field compliance monitoring on 2+ projects including 6+ months total field compliance monitoring experience
Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicles Records (MVR) check

Preferred

Avian nest monitoring and species identification skills with experience conducting nesting bird field surveys and avian habitat assessments on 3+ projects with at least 2 of these projects located in the southwestern U.S
Experience leading all three phases of western burrowing owl protocol surveys on 3+ projects including positive identification of individual owls in the wild
Experience conducting native special status reptile or amphibian species surveys or monitoring on 3+ projects with positive results and identification of target species
Experience leading field surveys or trapping for small mammals on 3+ California projects including possession of a CDFW scientific collecting permit
Basic documentation/data management experience
Experience working in the environmental compliance and/or construction fields (i.e., biological construction monitoring)
Basic botanical knowledge of central and southern California with demonstrated participation in 5+ field botanical rare plant surveys and habitat mapping assessments in California of which at least 3 of these projects in southern or central California
Geographic Information System (GIS) software skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to respond timely to deployment requests (i.e., sometimes next day)
Ability to travel to field sites in central and southern California and assist with field surveys and compliance monitoring in rugged, undeveloped terrain
Ability and experience conducting work in active construction sites and communicating with construction foreman and equipment operators
Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
