Responsibilities
Develop and supervise hydrologic and hydraulic models, conduct risk and flood hazard analyses, and support the planning, design, and construction activities of water resources projects, including dams and levees, flood control, river restoration, and resiliency and climate adaptation efforts
Perform, review, and oversee design calculations, and the preparation of reports and presentations for water-related projects and programs
Develop data processing workflows and visualizations to support modeling tasks, inform decision-making, and enhance client communication
Support project management activities, including resource planning, work delegation, management of project budgets, invoicing, and backlog reporting
Contribute to maintaining and advancing Schnabel’s strong brand in the water engineering field through thought leadership embodied in published papers, white papers, collaboration with key partners and universities, and presentations at recognized conferences and workshops
Contribute to business development, marketing, proposal preparation, and staff mentoring
Domestic and international travel as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Civil, Water Resources, or a related field
8+ years of relevant experience in water resources engineering
Proficiency in hydrologic, hydraulic, and risk modeling, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 2D, LifeSim, and RMC-BestFit. Experience with 3D numerical modeling is a plus
Expertise in GIS analysis and modeling using software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and QGIS
Ability to develop automated workflows and processes; programming skills including Python, batch scripting, and command-line automation
Effective time management, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and partners
Team-oriented and inclusive mindset
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
Ability to pass a pre-employment screening
Preferred
Master's Degree in Civil, Water Resources, or a related field
