Responsibilities
Lead a team of field technicians to test, repair and splice fiber optic cables to ensure proper functioning of network infrastructure
Perform maintenance and repairs on existing fiber optic connections, including troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise
Conduct site surveys to assess the feasibility of fiber optic installations and identify potential obstacles or hazards
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop efficient network layouts and configurations
Adhere to industry standards and regulations for fiber optic installation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
Coach and evaluate performance of field staff
Coordinate scheduling to ensure adequate staffing
Keep detailed records of all repairs, and maintenance activities, including documenting any changes made to network configurations
Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed
Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies, addressing issues in a timely and efficient manner
Utilize specialized tools and equipment, such as fusion splicers, light meters and OTDRs, to perform fiber optic tasks accurately and effectively
Stay informed about advancements in fiber optic technology and industry best practices, participating in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
Perform various field technician duties as needed
Perform other duties not listed here, as they arise, and as they are assigned to you
Available to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent with 5-10 years of experience
Proven experience working with fiber optic networks, including installation, splicing, and testing
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for fiber optic infrastructure
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot network issues effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks in outdoor environments and at elevated heights
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
Preferred
Technical certifications or training in fiber optics preferred
