Responsibilities

Manage the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of field instrumentation and monitoring equipment
Manage data and assist with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals
Utilize computer programs to solve engineering problems and maintain proper documentation
Oversee acquisition of automated and manual field instrumentation and survey data
Perform technical evaluation of equipment, troubleshoot and perform maintenance of installed instrumentation
Maintain accurate and current project documentation
Manage survey and mapping projects (with GPS, total station, drone)
Provide training and guidance to technicians and engineers on the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment
May work with vendors and contractors in the support of data collection and interpretation of data
Provide backup support for Engineers in analysis and processes as required
Perform other duties as requested

Required

Five (5) years of experience in an engineering or technical area relevant to the assignment
Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Ability to develop good working relationships within own team and folks from various other departments
Skilled in safely using, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam
Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing
Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation

Preferred

High School diploma or GED
Experience with maintaining and repairing radars, GPS equipment, total stations, piezometers
Aptitude for computers and/or electronics
