Responsibilities
Configure firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and proxies
Use tools to detect suspicious activity, mitigate risks, and respond to incidents
Investigate network vulnerabilities, hardware malfunctions, and security breaches
Create and enforce network security policies, maintain system documentation, and ensure compliance with standards
Work with IT, cloud, and operations teams to integrate secure solutions across platforms
Contribute to business continuity strategies and recovery plans in case of cyberattacks or outages
Qualification
Required
5+ years of network security engineering experience
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), and network architecture
Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, and forensic tools
Commonly required certifications include CISSP, CCNP Security, CEH, or CompTIA Security+
Analytical mindset to identify vulnerabilities and propose effective solutions
Familiarity with securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
