Bachelor of Management Faculty (Tenure-Track)

Responsibilities
Design, deliver, and refine business and management instruction largely at the upper division course level, preparing students for leadership roles across nonprofit, healthcare, small business, public, and private-sector settings in any industry that is personally relevant to the student and for graduate education opportunities
Apply the BASM program’s spiral design, cohort model to build systems view thinking progressively across courses, quarters, and disciplines
Use innovative, collaborative, and high impact instructional and learning assessment practices that engage and inspire students in applied, evidence and decision-focused learning
Design and deliver instruction to address the needs of a student body that represents a wide range of professional experiences, academic backgrounds, and socioeconomic demographics, through flexible, learner-centered approaches that honor and incorporate varied perspectives
Ensure workplace relevance by integrating current business and management practices, professional tools, and emerging technologies into coursework and applied projects
Provide subject matter expertise and contextualize learning to reflect the realities and complexities of the contemporary, ever evolving workplace
Engage in ongoing professional development as a scholar-practitioner, maintaining and growing knowledge in business, management, leadership, technology, and instructional innovation
Participate in the college’s program evaluation cycle and apply findings to strengthen student learning and program effectiveness
Develop, assess, and refine curriculum and learning outcomes to ensure ongoing relevance to workplace needs and alignment with program and institutional goals
Engage in reflective practice and collaboration with BASM faculty, the Department Chair, and college colleagues to improve teaching effectiveness and maintain program coherence
Provide wrap-around, holistic support through mentorship, advising, and individualized academic and professional guidance that addresses individual goals and learning contexts
Guide students in developing leadership, collaboration, and systems-thinking skills that recognize their agency and apply directly to their professional and organizational contexts
Foster a strong sense of connection and community within online and in-person learning environments, and with graduates, reflecting the BASM program’s intentional design lifelong for belonging and engagement
Support program administration by collaborating with the Department Chair as required, on activities such as student outreach and cohort assimilation, community outreach, program evaluation and assessment coordination and curriculum and program review and revision
Participate actively in college service, including committee work, governance, and institutional initiatives that advance SVC’s mission and values
Build and sustain relationships with program graduates, employers, industry leaders, and community partners to strengthen applied learning, workforce relevance, and community impact
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years management or business professional experience
Demonstrated teaching experience in formal adult learning or training environments, with demonstrated ability to teach both online and in-person
Evidence of skills that support practice-driven, decision-focused learning and wrap-around student support
Master's degree in management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Finance or a closely related field
Preferred
Ten (10) years management or business experience with a track record that demonstrates progressive leadership responsibility
Experience with innovative pedagogical approaches, such as spiral learning, applied and collaborative instruction, experiential learning, and high impact practices
Demonstrated commitment to integrate technology and generative AI into curriculum and instruction
Record of curriculum development and evolution
Community college teaching experience
Experience in building industry or community relationships
