Supervisory Health Systems Specialist

Responsibilities

Manages the Service budget a highly affiliated medical-education complex that includes patient care, research, education and general post funds
Oversees all acquisition processes within the Service, inclusive of the establishment and administration of contracts for clinical services and equipment
Establishes priorities for personnel, services, supplies, equipment and allocating funds to the proper cost centers
Works with the Service Chief to establish a long and short term strategic planning process within the service that will consider and effectively Integrate resource management planning; the missions of the VHA. VISN, and healthcare system; and identified needs of the service patient population or services to be provided
Collaborates with the Service Chief and other Service leaders to design the administrative structure needed to support the Implementation of any new program initiatives
Manages the recruitment, orientation and retention of clinical and nonclinical staff to meet effective staffing levels for the Service
Develops, reviews and revises, as needed, policies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory entities
Facilitates medical record maintenance that will meet VHA and JC standards and the needs of the patients and professional staff
Develops, promotes, and maintains good relations with a variety of groups to include other VA Healthcare systems, community healthcare providers, leading affiliates, community organizations, Veterans service organizations, other government agencies, professional societies, volunteers, media and customers
Provides oversight and coordination for service line administrative efforts to Identify, evaluate, and reduce risk of Injury to patients, staff and visitors
Other duties as assigned

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement
For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12
Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR): All applicants, regardless of grade level must meet minimum education or specialized experience requirements
Education: I possess a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. (Transcripts Required) OR
Specialized Experience: Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field
Special Provision for Inservice Placement: Successful completion of an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program may be substituted for qualifying experience, provided it included a formal individualized training plan
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and performed in a typical office setting
