Geotechnical Field Technician (Journey-person)
Earth Systems is a trusted partner in geotechnical excellence with a rich history of providing consulting and materials testing services. They are seeking a motivated Geotechnical Field Technician to assist in field investigations, data collection, and sample analysis for geotechnical engineering projects.

Responsibilities
Fieldwork related to soils engineering and construction, including compaction testing of soils, aggregates, and asphalt
Observation of grading activities and foundation construction, identification and sampling of construction materials, and special inspection of concrete, masonry, and steel
Record field data and prepare daily field reports and formal reports in accordance with Earth Systems’ report protocols and procedures
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure project specifications are met
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
Operate and maintain field testing equipment, perform troubleshooting, and maintain calibration of equipment
Demonstrate the company's safety behaviors by following safety protocols, and promoting a safety culture among team members
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduate from an approved apprenticeship program for Building/Construction Inspector and Field Soils and Material Tester required
ACI certifications: Aggregate Testing Technician, Aggregate/Soils Base Testing Technician, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, Concrete-Field Testing Technician
NICET: Construction Materials Testing: Asphalt, Concrete, Soils
Caltrans: JTCP Soils and Aggregate; JTCP HMA I & II
Nuclear gauge certification
Must be familiar with Microsoft programs
Math, analytical, and writing skills are required and must be willing to 'learn by doing'
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
A good work ethic, attention to detail, and a high level of personal integrity
Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record
Reliably commute or plan to relocate prior to starting work (Required)
Preferred
DSA and AWS CWI certifications are a plus
Prior experience working in a geotechnical environment preferred
