WELDER SUPERVISOR

The Department of the Navy is seeking a Welder Supervisor to join the Norfolk Naval Shipyard at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities

You will review shift assignments, work progress and work operations
You will assign work to subordinates through written and verbal instructions
You will provide on the job training to subordinates
You will plan, coordinate, supervise and review the work of subordinate welding and shipfitter personnel to meet schedules
You will investigate and provide solutions to quality problems encountered by subordinates and others involved in welding activities

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
You will be required to Lift/Carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to be responsible for all welding operations and planning the use of subordinate workers in such operations
Ability to adheres to deadlines when planning work and determining which projects and assignments to prioritize
Ability to attend meetings with other supervisors and managers to furnish and receive information regarding progress and problems on existing work projects and tentative new work
Ability to understand and apply safety precautions associated with welding
Ability to counsel employees on work and workplace issues
Ability to use personal knowledge of work operations to plan, implement, and revise work schedules as needed
Ability to review assigned routings for clarity of instructions, man hour allowance, and schedule span
Ability to organize, coordinate and direct the work of welding and shipfitter personnel
Ability to schedule subordinates leave according to workload and critical events
Ability to prepare verbal and written reports for supervisor
Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed by subordinates
