Technician, Lab 4, LP/BC

Responsibilities
Follow all safety/PPE rules and actively promote safety issues such as behavior-based safety, safety audits, safety committee meetings, safety improvement reports, job safety analysis, safety inspections, etc
Directly responsible for understanding, promoting and upholding the INEOS 20 Principles
Directly responsible for understanding and following INEOS Oxide Life Saving Rules
Directly responsible for understanding and completing all regular Cybersecurity training and awareness campaigns
Perform routine testing to determine product quality status as specified by the product specification system
Perform routine testing to support unit production or process control as specified by the inline testing schedules or requests from the manufacturing units
Perform non-routine testing with the assistance of the laboratory staff
Accurately input all data into LIMS system
Proactively and continuously clean the laboratory and equipment to display and maintain the housekeeping standards necessary for a world-class organization
Follow the rules of statistical process control (SPC) on laboratory test results to assure the measurement system is in statistical control
Actively promote quality goals and demonstrate attention to quality in job performance
Check operation of testing equipment, troubleshoot equipment to identify and/or correct source of problem, perform required routine preventative maintenance, and notify the shift team leader of any abnormalities or maintenance requirements
Schedule work to meet priorities
Conduct job tasks in a professional manner utilizing good housekeeping practices and laboratory technique
Participate as required safety or quality work teams to improve the current systems
Work as part of the laboratory team to accomplish organization goals
Improved and consistent housekeeping practices on shift to meet Asset Care expectations
Maintain and control the safe and efficient operation of the Bayport Laboratory using established operating disciplines and procedures. Ensure safety and environmental compliance is achieved
Responsible for maintaining the laboratory assets and protective systems integrity
Assist in defining and maintaining a laboratory threat board to proactively address safety risks
Participate in the development of laboratory procedures
Support the OSHA VPP efforts including laboratory participation in the site employee safety team
Ensure environmental compliance by working with the Environmental department on routine sample canister management including HON rule summa canister repair management
Help investigate all SHE incidents
Report all incidents immediately
Maintain safety as the highest priority of the plant
Maintain the 20 Principles of Safety and Process Safety
Responsible for Asset Care compliance of the laboratory and retain buildings. Conduct routine Asset Care tours and participate in audits
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED minimum with eight hours of college level chemistry
2 years of industrial laboratory experience (chemicals, fuels, polymers, R/D)
Complete commitment to safety
Ability to manage routine and non-routine samples and workloads
Ability to communicate with operations, product movement, and other site departments
Ability to lift 5-gallon containers (up to 50lbs.) and sample trays up to 30 lbs
Ability to walk for up to 20 feet
Ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus
Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound
Preferred
Associate or Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
Keen computer skills with knowledge of MS Office
Working knowledge of a LIMS system (Sample Manager, LabWare, BLISS)
Computer Skills: E-mail, SAP, Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience
Experience using Personal Protective Equipment
Experience following safety procedures, including OSHA standards
