Responsibilities
Lead the design, modeling, and experimental validation of advanced optical systems using metasurfaces, diffractive, and refractive elements
Serve as Principal Investigator for multiple programs, responsible for technical execution, reporting, and sponsor interaction
Develop winning technical proposals in collaboration with internal and external partners
Author high-quality technical reports and peer-reviewed publications
Transition developed technologies to defense, space, and commercial applications
Mentor junior engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, with 5+ years of post-degree experience in applied optics or photonics research
Demonstrated success leading research projects as PI or key technical lead
Proven track record of writing and winning competitive proposals
Publication record in top-tier optics and photonics journals
Strong foundation in optical system design, wave optics modeling, and laboratory experimentation
U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred
Ph.D. in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline with 3+ years of post-degree experience in applied optics or photonics research would be a plus
Experience with metasurface or diffractive optics design and fabrication
Background in imaging, sensing, or laser systems
Experience mentoring or leading small technical teams
Interest in technology transition and commercialization
