Responsibilities

Providing supervision and ensuring safety of individuals
Assisting in educational and/or vocational programming
Facilitating indoor/outdoor leisure activities and encouraging participation
Crisis-intervention which includes de-escalation of aggressive individuals and, at times, physical interventions
Facilitate goals in areas of grooming, hygiene, dining, and residential skills to promote independence
Participate in Community outings
Assisting individuals in areas of daily living skills while promoting their independence
Transportation when needed for school, outings, appointment
Writing monthly progress notes for goals and recording of behavior data
Meal preparation and following nutrition guidelines
Coaching in areas of social skills, community safety awareness, problem solving

Qualification

Required

Associate's Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution
High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of directly related experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience
To be considered for employment, applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry
Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks
All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy

Preferred

Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or behaviors
Valid Driver's License
