Electrical Field Service Engineer

GE Vernova is seeking an Electrical Field Service Engineer to provide direction and assistance to work groups in achieving assigned objectives. The role involves significant travel to customer sites for commissioning, servicing, and providing technical assistance on power systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

Pre-commission, commission, and service static frequency converters (SFC) and variable frequency (VFD) low voltage and medium voltage drives/switchgear/transformers and power systems
Provide technical assistance and supervision to customers on the installations
Conduct on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction
Provide management with complete and prompt information and report regarding safety & project/service status, customer or equipment problems, and failures
Provide technical assistance through on-site guidance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and ground support equipment
Provide and assist quality team with root cause analysis and generate reports in case of equipment malfunction or failures to identify/analyse any undesirable trends
Complete site documentations such as weekly safety update, installations check lists, pre-commissioning, and commissioning procedures
Hands-on on-site parts replacement, testing, and verification of electrical equipment
Adhere with company Health and Safety policies and work in safe and best practice manner to ensure the wellbeing of personnel and equipment are not compromised
Able to interface at upper management and peers levels of the organization both internally and externally in clear and methodical manner

Required

Electrical engineering bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited university or college
Solid understanding of Power Electronics, Electric Circuit, Electric Power Systems, Medium Voltage, Harmonics, with good hands-on skill
Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers. Good literacy in at least one computer programming language
Hands-on experience and knowledge of test instruments (recorders, power analysers, oscilloscopes, Insulation resistance, HI pot etc.)
Comfortable to sail on marine vessels if needed and remain offshore for defined number of days
Willing to travel including distant in-country or aboard limited duration visits and with short notice in advance
Good understanding of Health and Safety, and risks / Hazards involved
