Responsibilities

Conducting oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and its adjacent tissue and structures
Diagnosing pathological or irregular oral conditions
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic measures, such as radiographic images, other imaging, models etc
Completing dento-alveolar surgery, including simple surgical and complex exodontia, pre-prosthetic surgery, bone grafting, sinus and ridge augmentation, vestibuloplasty and implant placement procedures
Arranging for patient consultation, work-up, admission, medical/dental specialty and inter-disciplinary care, completion of surgical procedures, and providing post-operative and follow-up care of patients with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions
Completing oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures including but not limited to treatment of facial traumatic injuries/facial fractures; treatment of pathological conditions such as benign cysts/tumors, orthognathic surgery, biopsy procedures and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) surgery
Adhering to safety, health, and infection control standards, and demonstrating knowledge in the use and reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME)
Other related duties as assigned

Required

A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Completed, or you are currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients
Currently hold, or will hold, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Subject to background/security investigation
Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
You may be required to serve a probationary period
