Responsibilities

Designs and implements engineering controls and safety improvements to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment in the manufacturing facility
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and maintain product quality
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
Works closely with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
Participates in cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
Manages capital projects from concept through implementation, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and coordination of resources to support manufacturing improvements and expansion
Supports root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints
Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of assigned team members, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with production schedules and quality standards
Provides ongoing training, coaching, and development opportunities for team members, including onboarding new employees and facilitating cross-training on equipment, processes, and safety protocols
Manages team schedules, approves time off, conducts regular performance reviews, and addresses personnel issues to support a positive and productive work environment

Required

Solid background in CNC machining
Must have understanding of Lean and Continuous improvement methodologies and be able to apply them to manufacturing processes including product assembly, cell layouts and equipment procurement
Familiarity with Inventor or other CAD software
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and guide a technical team toward achieving operational goals
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Background in metal machining and finishing processes. Knowledge and experience with CNC machining operations

Preferred

Project or program management certification
Six Sigma/LEAN methodology certification
