The John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts is seeking a Mason responsible for the upkeep of the Kennedy Center Facility, grounds, and related structures. The role involves various tasks including repairing and maintaining masonry and stonework in decorative and structural situations.

Responsibilities
Repair, install, make alterations, maintain, and erect masonry, marble slabs, terrazzo, granite, tile, brick, block, and stonework in a wide variety of decorative and structural situations
The incumbent, either personally or through skilled direction of subordinates, cuts, polishes, cleans and matches a wide variety of stone ranging from marble, terrazzo, granite, and tile
The incumbent must lay common and face brick, cinder and cement block, glass block, terra cotta, and various artificial and natural stone
Construct/repair walls, walks, decorative masonry structures, arches, overlays, structural coverings over multi lane roadways and over unique architectural aspects of acoustically designed internal walls, foyers, corridors, and performance halls
Work involves the most complex skilled work with inlays, multi-textured surfaces, and mixtures of different mediums. grouts, and adhesives applied to various under-layments
In addition to laying whole brick in straight, horizontal rows, the incumbent must be able to perform a variety of more complex brick, stone, and marble work such as decorative structural coverings
Construction, alteration, repair, and modification of items such as cabinets, doors, windows, steps, staircases, floors, floor coverings, carpet, and tile
Work from plans, blueprints, diagrams, sketches, work orders, and oral instructions. Prepares layouts and selects material for carpentry jobs
Qualification
Required
US Citizenship is required
Suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
Direct Deposit of pay is required
Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)

Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license
