SURVIVOR OUTREACH SERVICES COORDINATOR (TITLE 32)

Responsibilities

Provide support services to survivors of Soldiers who have fallen in combat as well as support to the survivors of all Soldiers who have passed while on duty
Provide short term and long-term case management, (network of providers)
Benefits counseling
Financial planning
Legal assistance
Personalized, integrated web-based support
One-stop service provider
Service delivery based on specific individual needs
Support as long as the family member wants/needs support
Coordinator will provide awareness education to the military community about the needs of survivors and maintain linkage between survivor and the Army
Program effectiveness significantly impacts force readiness and the quality of life for military beneficiaries
Perform under the supervision of their perspective state G-1, The Army National Guard Family Morale Welfare/Recreation Command
Collaborate in developing deadlines, approaches to unusual/ particularly sensitive problems
Responsible for coordinating recommendations, actions with counterparts in higher/lower echelons within Army, Department of Defense, Department of Veteran Affairs, other federal agencies, state and local government officials, representatives of private industry contractors
Recommendations/conclusions presented by the employee are reviewed only for compatibility with policy objectives, program goals and are normally accepted without significant change
Coordinate/ maintain professional standards of service and ensures that SOS program functions are carried out in accordance with governing laws, policies, regulations, professional standards of service
Conduct research on emerging service configurations and service delivery methods
Develop working relationships with a broad range of Department of Defense agencies, the Veterans Administration, Veteran Service Organizations, community and service organizations
Identify needs of survivors of fallen soldiers while brokering resources to meet their needs
Plan for and effectively uses fiscal resources allocated to the SOS program
In the absence of a state Casualty Manager, be assigned as the states Supervisory Casualty Operations Manager

Required

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trail period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest
Military Grades: Enlisted (E7 to E9), Warrant Officer (WO1 to CW4), or Officer (1LT to CPT)
Minimum Requirements: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration
Experience using computer and automation systems
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions
Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations
Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures
Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations
You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position
