Responsibilities

Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within the Human Resources Operations Center and are assigned based on the need of the agency
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, requirements of assignments, and capabilities of the employees
Provide staff level advice and consultation to all components in the area of program improvement by conducting policy review to evaluate the effectiveness of current policies and practices
Serve as a staffing/classification expert and advise managers, employees, or other groups on technical, procedural, or policy issues
Consult/participate with the HROC management in analyzing the broad implications of higher levels of authority, laws, regulations, policies, as well as technological and administrative advancement trends
Perform a full range of supervisory responsibilities such as setting performance goals and providing performance feedback to employees, encouraging and recognizing employee achievements, and fostering career development

Required

You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National to apply for this position
Successfully pass a Background Investigation including financial disclosure
You must pass a drug screening
You must submit resume and supporting documentation
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service
You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government
Providing guidance on human resources concepts, laws, and policies relating to recruitment, position management, and/or classification
Resolving issues and providing written responses to managers
Serving as a consultant/advisor to junior staff members in the classification and/or staffing area
Interpreting legislative, regulatory, and policy guidance to prepare recommendations for management
