Department of Anesthesiology Faculty Position - Pain Psychologist

Responsibilities

Provide individual and group-based psychological assessments and interventions for patients with chronic pain conditions (e.g., CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based approaches)
Participate in integrated care models alongside physicians, APPs, and other specialists to develop individualized treatment plans
Work collaboratively with faculty to design and implement protocols that embed behavioral health into perioperative pain care pathways, opioid tapering, and neuromodulation
Support the development and delivery of educational programs for pain fellows, residents, and medical students
Contribute to clinical research and quality improvement projects related to behavioral pain medicine
Maintain appropriate documentation and adherence to best practices and ethical standards

Required

Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program
Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship with a focus in pain psychology, health psychology, or behavioral medicine
Licensed (or license-eligible) to practice psychology in the state of Georgia
Experience with interdisciplinary pain care and evidence-based treatments for chronic pain
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong commitment to team-based care

Preferred

Experience working in academic medical centers
Interest in contributing to research, grant applications, and program development
Familiarity with integrated EHR documentation workflows and measurement-based care
