Assistant Professor of Practice of Accounting Business Law - Fall 2026

Institute for Women's Leadership Marquette University is inviting applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice to begin in Fall 2026. The role involves teaching business law courses, engaging in scholarly activities, and fulfilling service responsibilities typical of full-time faculty.

Responsibilities

Prepare and teach 6 sections of business law courses per academic year (18 credits) in the Fall and Spring semesters
The two primary courses will be BULA 3001 – Legal and Ethical Environment of Business and BULA 4001 – Business Law for Accounting
BULA 3001 involves review of the legal and related ethical issues that commonly arise in the business environment, with emphasis on the American legal system and litigation, corporate responsibility, the changing nature of contracts and employment, torts and products liability, consumer law and business crimes
BULA 4001 is the review of the principles of law related to business organizations, with emphasis upon agency and employment, property law related to personal and real property, bailments, wills, trusts, estates, insurance, administrative law, corporate governance, legal compliance, professional responsibility, agency, contract law and UCC contract concepts, creditor-debtor law, bankruptcy, secured transactions, securities regulation, and creation, formation, and operation of business associations such as corporations and partnerships
Candidate may also be tasked with teaching sections of MBA 6200 – Enterprise Risk Management which is risk assessment methodology and process that provides a more strategic evaluation and response to risk
Scholarly activities will include publication in practitioner focused journals as necessary for classification as an AACSB “Scholarly Practitioner.”
Department and college service expectations include academic advising, committee work, assurance of learning, and other necessary duties typical of full-time faculty
