Electrician (I, II, or III)

Responsibilities
Maintains, repairs and calibrates electrical instrument and control system equipment
Inspects, maintains and repairs water treatment facilities for proper operation of equipment to include motor control centers and facility specific variable frequency drives
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance program for instrumentation/electrical
Maintains inventory of spare parts
Performs general housekeeping duties as directed
Makes recommendations for purchase or replacement of equipment
Prepares routine reports and maintains accurate records including daily logs
Assists in training of lower-level employees in the electrical field
Troubleshoots electrical issues using the correct testing equipment
Follows the NEC state and local building regulations
Follows and guides others on lockout/tagout protocol
Must be available on an "on-call" basis when required by the Maintenance Manager
Participates in the department cross-training initiatives to acquire knowledge and skill sets to support the department and the Authority
Performs other related job duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma, vocational or GED; supplemented by minimum of five (5) years of journey-level experience in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic equipment common to water treatment systems; or an equivalent combination of training, and experience
A valid State of Florida driver's license to operate the motor vehicle operated. The requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment
Possess a journeyman's electrical license
Completion of OSHA 30 safety course
Knowledge of electrical principles for process control of water treatment processes
Knowledge of Authority policies and procedures
Thorough understanding of electrical standards, codes, schematics and blueprints
Knowledge of medium voltage electrical systems
Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions
Ability to update blueprints to reflect changes/modifications as necessary
Ability to design, build, install & test electrical equipment
Ability to safely work on Medium Voltage Switch Gear (up to 25,000VAC)
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to apply independent judgment on technical problems
Ability to understand and interpret automation/instrumentation control functions
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to respond to work under emergency conditions during crisis situations
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to use a computer and related software
Ability to properly and safely operate a motor vehicle
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Tasks involve the regular, and at times sustained, the performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials
You must have the ability to stand for extended periods as well as bend, twist, squat, kneel, push, pull and exhibit a full range of movement
This position also requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders and to perform physical tasks at heights of up to 35 feet, safely perform gas cylinder change-out procedures while wearing SCBA equipment, and work in confined spaces while wearing appropriate safety equipment
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate odors
Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination
You must have the ability to use visual, auditory, and olfactory cues to detect faulty operating characteristics in equipment and/or process and make corrective repairs and adjustments
Tasks may risk exposure to strong and/or toxic chemicals, noise extremes, humidity, dust, machinery, wetness, and odors
You must have the ability to work outdoors, without climate control and in adverse weather conditions
