Aero-Optics Engineer for Modeling & Simulation Huntsville, AL - 6 month contract to hire
Optical Society of Southern California is seeking an Aero-Optics Engineer to support the development and validation of aero-optical models and simulation software. The role involves analyzing wind tunnel test data, simulating optical effects, and developing detailed reports.
Research
Responsibilities
Analyze hypersonic wind tunnel test data
Develop and validate aero-optical models
Simulate optical effects for scene generation or flight predictions
Develop comprehensive and detailed reports
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Physics, Optical Science, Mathematics, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical area
Experience with optical analysis, including a solid understanding of physical and geometrical optics
Experience with Zemax, Matlab or Python modeling, and data analysis
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Disciplined approach to laboratory work with strong attention to detail
Good organizational skills
Must be U.S. citizens
Must be able to obtain a security clearance upon demonstrated need
Preferred
Experience with aero-optics and wind tunnel testing
