Responsibilities
Maintains city rights-of-way and other public areas
Operates trucks and construction or power equipment, such as tractors, mowers, boom-axe, backhoe, street sweeper, lift truck, cranes, chainsaws, etc
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment
Operates trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
Regular attendance required
Assists with other parks and maintenance items and necessary
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required
Considerable knowledge of equipment operating principles; working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions
Knowledge of proper procedures for use and care of mowing, trimming, wood chipper and chainsaw equipment
Knowledge of proper procedures for use and care of backhoes
Valid Texas Driver's License
Employment is contingent on passing physical examination, background check, and drug screen
Preferred
Valid Texas Commercial Driver's license (CDL) is preferred for all equipment operator levels above I
