Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem

They are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform various technical and clerical duties for the medication distribution system and intravenous admixture program, while also managing inventory and compounding sterile products.

Responsibilities

Selects the proper medication and/or accessory from stock necessary to match label generated and/or cart fill list. Labels and prepares product in accordance with Pharmacy Practice standards and Hospital Policies and Procedures and delivers all checked medications including, but not limited to, controlled substances, IV’s, chemotherapy, leeches, floor stock, etc. to respective area
With the use of an automated dispensing system printout, refills automated dispensing system Med Stations to prescribed par levels as per departmental policies and procedures
Maintains and restocks individual filling stations and work areas, including all satellites while contributing to the maintenance of a fixed, minimal level of pharmacy inventory. Responsible for inventory control/purchasing activity as required to maintain departmental inventory at appropriate levels
Compounds sterile products, including intravenous admixtures, total parenteral nutrition solutions, chemotherapy, and miscellaneous products in accordance with proper aseptic technique, USP <797>and <800>guidelines and the policies and procedures set by the pharmacy department
Responsible for the daily coordination of the compounding and distribution of non-sterile products, adhering to proper technique and procedures as established in USP <795>guidelines, Pharmacy policies and procedures and patient care needs
Performs a variety of clerical duties and other related duties as assigned

Required

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required
National Pharmacy Technician Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) required or must be obtained within one (1) year of date of hire
Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy
Ability to work the second (2nd) shift, 3:30pm-12am

Preferred

A High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred
