Fleet Service Technician

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic tests to identify, and rebuild and repair malfunctions on all diesel, gasoline, and electric equipment
Make repairs to all major and minor sub-systems
Diagnose hydraulic malfunctions, and engines, repair pumps, cylinders, and control valves
Perform maintenance and repairs on everything from UTVs, auto, light/heavy trucks, trailers, pumps, construction, and other heavy equipment
Troubleshoot and repair pumps, actuators, transmissions, compressors, pneumatic and electric controls, air-conditioning units, and components
May weld and cut parts using welding equipment
Perform inspections and serviceability/reliability checks/repairs/rebuilds on all brake, steering, and drive line components
Utilizes laptop computers to complete, and verify parts/labor, and inputs comments to detail repairs made
Perform maintenance and repairs on Fire/ EMS vehicles and equipment

Qualification

Required

A High School Diploma or its equivalent
Two (2) years of mechanical experience in automotive or heavy vehicle/equipment repair
A valid Florida Class 'B' Commercial Driver's License with a Tanker endorsement within six (6) months from the time of hire. (Paid for by the county!)
A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire
Must supply own basic tool set and rolling toolbox upon hire

Preferred

Complete and maintain a minimum of two (2) ASE/EVT certifications. (Paid for by the county!)
Ability to obtain Hazmat certification
Certification/ experience in basic welding
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
