Responsibilities

Design and facilitate targeted, developmentally appropriate lessons using evidence-based practices that foster emotional resilience, self-regulation, and peer respect in alignment with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
Utilize trauma-informed approaches during student interactions to identify emerging needs, track progress toward individual goals, and document interventions using district approved platforms
Establish and maintain cross-sector partnerships to enhance service delivery, identify gaps, and align resources with strategic wellness goals and community initiatives
Coordinate multidisciplinary communication among educators, counselors, mental health professionals and external providers to support continuity of care and comprehensive student wellness planning
Serve as a liaison to bridge communication among stakeholders, ensuring student needs are addressed holistically, through collaborative planning and culturally responsive practices
Actively contribute to Student Study Team (SST) or individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings to provide insight on wellness supports and reinforce shared accountability
Track student progress in PBIS programs using data collection tools and collaborate with staff to adjust intervention strategies based on outcome trends
Conduct initial triage and provide stabilization support during mental health crisis, ensuring alignment with school policies and legal reporting mandates
Conduct targeted outreach through home visits to address attendance, wellness, or academic concerns, fostering family partnerships and trust
Implement brief, goal-focused sessions using motivational interviewing and psychoeducation techniques to support early intervention and staff self-efficacy
Deliver small group wellness programming focused on developing social-emotional skills, stress management, and life skills through structured interventions such as behavioral activation, mindfulness, and emotional regulation techniques; support students in identifying and engaging in activities that promote well-being, practicing adaptive coping strategies (e.g., sensory-based distraction, redirecting attention, mindfulness), and addressing maladaptive thought patterns introduced in higher levels of care
Coordinate with school personnel and collaborate on behavioral screenings; identify and refer students for behavioral health services within the school or broader organization
Process documents (e.g., intake forms, billing) for activity documentation, information dissemination, and program compliance
Collaborate with district, community organizations, and other entities for planning, implementing, and maintaining program services
Intervene in crisis situations following established procedures to ensure safety and reduce crisis intensity while maintaining confidentiality
Present information to district and community groups to promote programs, gain feedback, and meet internal requirements
Coordinate care, connecting individuals to internal and external behavioral health resources, and facilitate communication with professionals
Attend meetings with students, parents, and staff as needed
Support parent and community engagement initiatives
Communicate with parents and staff as appropriate within confidentiality limits
Document interventions and bill for services as directed
Meet with students individually for wellness promotion, mental health literacy, and life skills education
Perform related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

Required

Wellness Coach Certification or ability to become certified through the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI)
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Addiction Studies, Psychology
Field Experience: 800 verifiable hours of experience within the last six years providing behavioral health services to children and youth through age 25 in a school-linked/school-based organization, non-profit, communication organization or health center
OR Education: Bachelor's Degree in any field
Field Experience: 2,700 verifiable hours of experience within the last six years providing behavioral health services to children and youth through age 25 in a school-linked/school-based organization, non-profit, communication organization or health center

Preferred

Wellness Coach Certification preferred
Some positions may require the ability to speak, read, and write in a designated second language
